A Great Jobs Report For January

A Great Jobs Report For January

The Department of Labor issued  their jobs report for January and it was positive news on all fronts. The economy added 257,000 jobs in January, wages rebounded from their slump, and 2014  saw the largest gain in jobs since 1999.  The last three months, November and December 2014, and January 2015, witnessed the largest three month expansion of jobs since 1997!

Although unemployment numbers inched up from 5.6 to 5.7, economists saw that as good news since it meant that more Americans were encouraged enough about the job market to start actively looking for jobs. Experts predict that payrolls will be strong, and also  that the Federal Reserve may be able to raise short-term interest rates in June, earlier than the expected date of September.
