Leadership Development Most Urgent Challenge for Organizations

Leadership Development is the top challenge for organizations, according  to the Deloitte Global Human Capital Trends 2014 report, a survey of 2,532 business and HR leaders at organizations in 94 countries.

As baby boomers approach retirement, new leaders need  to be prepared to take the reigns and move the organization forward.  These leaders need to be adaptable and visionary , as well as good managers .  But  leadership training shouldn’t  include just the top levels of the organization, but the lower levels as well to ensure that the pipeline is filled with developing leaders.

Those employees  who do well at their craft do not always make the best managers.  Often people are promoted to higher levels based on their job performance and/or seniority.  Those identified as candidates for management and  leadership roles should have the personality characteristics, drive and ambition to lead the organization.  These high potentials should be identified  early and spend years developing the attributes that the organization needs to meet it’s objectives.

At D&B Consulting, we begin every executive coaching relationship with a thorough interview to gain insights about the person’s background, including education and work history. We then administer a variety of Personality and Career Assessments to identify strengths, interests and work styles. For executives and managers, we conduct customized 360 Degree Feedback. Based on that feedback, the client develops a customized executive development plan. Our one-on-one conversations take place via face to face, video conference or telephone meetings.  For high potentials,  we get feedback from superiors and performance reviews and develop a plan to increase skills and  experience.

Executive  and leadership coaching can help to develop the leaders and managers needed to ensure the organization’s competitive advantage . Our ideal clients are willing to be transparent, eager to receive constructive, targeted feedback, and motivated to change the status quo to meet the business needs of the organization.
