EY, the Global consulting firm, recently surveyed their 9700 full-time workers and found nearly one -third  responded that   managing their work and personal lives has become more difficult.  They want competitive pay and benefits,  flex-time, without a formal agreement, paid parental leave, less overtime, and the ability to unplug when they need to focus on their personal lives.  See article:

A Great Jobs Report For January

The Department of Labor issued  their jobs report for January and it was positive news on all fronts. The economy added 257,000 jobs in January, wages rebounded from their slump, and 2014  saw the largest gain in jobs since 1999.  The last three months, November and December 2014, and January 2015, witnessed the largest three month expansion of jobs since 1997!

The Problem with Postive Thinking and Goal Attainment

A recent article in the NY Times  addressed the issue of how positive thinking can hinder goal  attainment.  In study after study the author told how those people who focused on “happy thoughts”, eliminated “negative self-talk”,  and  fantasized about their wishes coming true, received negative results.   These populations included graduate students looking for a job and those who wanted to lose weight.

Toxic Behavior in Leaders: Executive Coaching Can Help
